… And the boring/worst dressed of Oscars 2014

After covering the best of Oscars 2014, it is only fair to cover the underwhelming and worst dressed. There weren’t any crazy out of the world dresses, just plain boring.

FROM THE BORING TO PLAIN BAD

Margot Robbie

One of the discoveries for this year, Wolf of Wall Street Margot Robbie disappointed in this goth like black gown by Saint Laurant with diamonds necklace and earrings to match her now darker hair (she used to be blonde). The make up was overdone, the hair is too dark- she needs to fire her stylist and hair and make-up team ASAP!

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts’ return to red carpet season hasn’t been great- with the shirt gown and the pantsuit. For Oscars, the newly blonde Julia wore a black sleeveless lace gown by Givenchy. The dress was fine, but the camisole like inset makes it plain weird.

Anne Hathaway

Another weird black number was the one Anne Hathaway wore- designed by Gucci, it has this metallic detail. Moreover the gown wasn’t right for Oscars- probably more fit for something more casual. Not a fan!

Anna Kendrick

Third black dress that was underwhelming was Anna Kendrick’s edgy black with mesh details and a thigh high slit on J Mendel. Anna took a risk and tried something different, but it has far too much going on and wasn’t appropriate for Oscars. Fail!

Jennifer Garner

One of my favorites Jennifer Garner wore a silver beaded Oscar de la Renta gown with tiered detail. I don’t hate this look, I just have seen it too many times on the red carpet to get excited by it. Better luck next year!

Angelina Jolie

Another red carpet favorite that disappointed by choosing a relatively boring dress was Angelina Jolie. Angelina wore a metallic Elie Saab gown- the gown is great, but there have been many similar ones on the red carpet before.

Viola Davis

Viola Davis wore a green Escada gown- I love the color, but I am not a fan of the fabric or the fitting. I love Viola Davis, but this dress just doesn’t work for me, sorry!

That’s it folks! I love sharing my opinions on the award show fashion trends- thanks for reading, and please continue to share your views by commenting on the posts below…

And the most ridiculous Oscar looks…

After covering the best looks, I have to talk about the most ridiculous ones too!

Angelina Jolie likes black, and I get it- that’s my favorite color too. And she has an amazing body so she wants to flaunt her pins, and she has every right to do so. Angelina’s make up was flawless and her hair looks amazing. But I am not a fan of this Atelier Versace gown at all, I mean it is black velvet- what is so special about that? To me, there was absolutely nothing about the outfit. And the posing to flaunt the leg was so contrite and felt a bit like “look at me”, she really didn’t need to do that. I mean when she was presenting the awards, she was so fake and posey!

I love Viola Davis, and she looks absolutely lovely but I am not a fan of her gown. I actually loved the color of the Vera Wang gown, I just don’t love the neckline. It looks like they ran out of fabric. It’s a pity too, Viola had a perfect run through the award season!

Shailene Woodley was awesome in the movie Descendants, and I was so excited to see her at the Oscars. She is so young that she could have gotten away with anything but I was disappointed to see her in this dull and drag outfit. Shailene could have done so much more with this, and the dress by Valentino would be suitable for someone much much older!

Sandra Bullock always has fun at the red carpet, last year she was a knockout. But this white and black Marchesa gown is dull and boring, and makes her looking years older. Totally unsuitable for her image!

Now that award season is up, I have the gowns withdrawal! It is gonna be almost a year till I get to spend an evening judging gowns on stunning people and dream about of wearing something that fabulous!

My favorite Golden Globes 2012 gowns

Yesterday marked the beginning of the my most eagerly awaited time of the year: Award season! I haven’t seen Joan Rivers fashion police yet, but I must say this year’s award season is very ho-hum–same colors and trends. One strong color trend was the white– some of the gowns looked more like bridal gowns!

My favorite gowns for this year:

I love Sofia Vergara, and in this fishtail gown by Vera Wang with Harry Winston diamonds, she looks absolutely heavenly. I am never a fan of fishtail gowns, and I didn’t think it would work on a curvy woman, but it fits her like a glove. Blue is such an awesome color on her!

As one of the young and happening starlets, Emma Stone was the centre of attention. She attracted attention in this gorgeous plunging berry gown, with contrasting red accents and dramatic belt by Lanvin. Mi amore!

Jessica Alba looks radiant in this stunning Gucci beaded gown with a hint of pink and the right amount of bling, courtesy of Bulgari jewels. What a comeback after her second baby!

Speaking of yummy mommies, Natalie Portman looks like a knock out in this pink and red gown by Lanvin (a popular favorite this year!)

One of my red carpet favorites is the ever-graceful Kate Beckinsale. Keeping with the popular bridal trend, Kate looks gorgeous in this white strapless gown by Roberto Cavalli. Bridal chic indeed!

Taking a break from her usual dark hues, Angelina Jolie stunned in a stunning ivory number with contrasting blood red accents by Atelier Versace. Sparkling change!
