10 Notable looks of Oscars 2016

Oscars is finally here! Unfortunately, being across the pond means I have to resort to viewing online clips the next day to write my review; I miss the real time experience. This year’s red carpet was a bit of a disappointment- all the gowns were unoriginal, nothing that was absolutely unique.

Here are my 10 notable looks from Oscars 2016

Brie

Brie Lawson (Source: Getty Images)

This year’s best actress winner Brie Lawson in this blue ruffled Gucci gown with a sparkling belt. While I am in love with the color, it has too many ruffles and her hair was all wrong.

Alicia

Alicia Vikander (Source: Getty Images)

The other winner, Alicia Vikander, wore a yellow strapless Louis Vuitton number, which looks inspired by Beauty and the Beast. While it is definitely different from the typical red carpet gowns, it looks like a prom dress.

J Law

Jennifer Lawrence (Source: Getty Images)

Red carpet favorite Jennifer Lawrence wore a sleeveless black Dior Haute Couture gown to compliment her new platinum hair. It isn’t the most original gown, the hair and dress worked together.

Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra (Source: Getty Images)

Desi Girl Priyanka Chopra put India on the map, presenting at the Oscars. She looked incredible in this strapless Zuhair Murad gown. Priyanka was in all the press for her 8 million dollars worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, including 50 carat earrings- I am not a fan of the earrings. It doesn’t look like 50 carat real diamond earrings, more like the fake cubic zirconia ones. But all in all, great moment for Priyanka, well done!

Jen Garner

Jennifer Garner (Source: Getty Images)

Back in the singles market, Jennifer Garner stunned in this strapless black Versace gown with an asymmetrical neckline, showcasing her incredibly toned body.

Chrissy

Chrissy Teigen (Source: Getty Images)

Now this is pregnancy fashion done right! Chrissy Teigen wore a floral embellished Marchesa gown, which clung her blossoming bump.

Charlize

Charlize Theron (Source: Getty Images)

Charlize Theron wore a daring low cut and slinky red number by Christian Dior along with a 48.8 carat Harry Winston diamond necklace, along with 15.49 carat diamond earrings and a cushion cut diamond ring. She wore an impressive haul of 3.7 million dollars worth of jewelry. While her jewelry was impressive, Charlize’s gown is extremely similar to her prior Oscar looks. Come on Charlize, try something new!

Naomi

Naomi Watts (Source: Getty Images)

Another flashback from previous Oscars was Naomi Watts in strapless sapphire and amethyst Armani Prive gown, with a statement diamond necklace from Bulgari. The beading and sparkles look a bit tacky, and the look is a bore.

Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara (Source: Getty Images)

Sofia Vergara wowed with her curves in his strapless midnight blue Marchesa gown with silver details. While it isn’t the most unique gown, it is a departure from her typical mermaid style gowns. Sofia complemented the look with dangling 65 carat sapphire and diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. I am not a fan of Sofia’s earrings or hair-do, but amazing outfit all in all!

Cate

Cate Blanchett (Source: Getty Images)

One of the stars to watch on the red carpet is Cate Blanchett, she is never boring and has the most unique style. This Oscars, she wore a green plunging Armani Prive gown. It was a polarizing dress, hitting best and worst dressed lists everywhere. I am not a fan of the color, it washes her out and the flower detail was cheap. Great attempt at bringing life to the red carpet, but sadly wrong choice of gown.

That wraps it up! Share your best and worst looks below…

SAG awards 2015 Fashion!

So the second big award show is here- I was pleasantly surprised to see very different looks from the Golden Globes.

Sidebar: I missed Ryan and Giuliana- I was visibly cringing watching Maria interview, especially when she asked everyone to walk the mani-cam and they all turned it down! Awkward!

10 Notable Looks from the SAG awards:

Emma Stone

Emma Stone (Source: Getty Images)

Emma Stone always brings something different to red carpets, and this time is no different. This time around, she rocked this tuxedo styled Dior haute couture gown with the red lip for a pop of color- hitting the androgynous trend and wowing the red carpet audience!

Felicity Johnson

Felicity Jones (Source: Getty Images)

Felicity Jones, who stars in the highly acclaimed movie Theory of Everything  looked incredible in this Balenciaga gown.

21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Arrivals

Sofia Vergara (Source: Getty Images)

Newly engaged star of Modern Family and one of my red carpet favorites Sofia Vergara doesn’t disappoint. She wore a red one shoulder Donna Karan that perfectly complimented her gorgeous ring and arm candy Joe Manganiello.

Kiera Knightley (Source: Getty Images)

Kiera Knightley (Source: Getty Images)

Best supporting actress nominee Keira Knightley looks incredible in this draped purple Erdem gown. This is the perfect gown for the pregnant star, though her hair looks messy!

Julianne Marguiles (Source: Getty Images)

Julianne Marguiles (Source: Getty Images)

I might be partial to Julianne Marguiles because of Good Wife- I loved her in this blue Giambattista Valli gown with a mega-high slit. I wasn’t a fan of her hair style, but still a stunner!

Julianne Moore (Source: Getty Images)

Julianne Moore (Source: Getty Images)

Julianne Moore wore this green beaded number by Givenchy. I love the bottom of the dress, but the top looks a lot like t-shirt dresses- nothing fancy!

Rosamund Pike (Source: Getty Images)

Rosamund Pike (Source: Getty Images)

Rosamund Pike was the star to watch on the red carpet- so far her fashion choices haven’t won me over. This purple Dior Haute Couture number is shapeless and doesn’t really impress.

Reese Witherspoon (Source: Getty Images)

Reese Witherspoon looks incredible in this fitted white Giorgio Armani number with stunning Harry Winston diamonds.

Jennifer Aniston (Source: Getty Images)

Jennifer Aniston wore a vintage Galliano gown- I like the gown, but there is too much cleavage, maybe it’s the fit. Somehow short of awesome!

Lupita N'yongo (Source: Getty Images)

Lupita N’yongo tried a fashion risk with this psychedelic long sleeved Eli Saab gown. It wasn’t a stunner, but something different and fresh!

10 notable looks from SAG Awards 2014

Hi everyone

As award season rolls on, last night was the SAG Awards 2014. I felt the gowns at SAG awards were better than Golden Globes. I hated fewer dresses, and there were a few WOW moments.

Here are the top 10 looks (some wow and some bad) from the SAG awards

Amy Adams (Source: Getty Images)

Amy Adams (Source: Getty Images)

Amy Adams was the star of the night in this blue one shouldered Antonio Berardi gown with waist detail. She looked every inch the superstar!

Lupita Nyongo (Source: Getty Images)

Lupita Nyongo (Source: Getty Images)

The new fashion darling- Lupita Nyongo has been on everyone’s fashion must-watch list. I was a bit underwhelmed with her choice with the Golden Globes, because it was so much like Gwyneth Paltrow wore at Oscars 2012. But with this bright turqoise Gucci dress, I totally get the hype about her. The highlight for me with the Fred Leighton jewelry that completely complemented the dress.

Jennifer Lawrence (Source: Getty Images)

Jennifer Lawrence (Source: Getty Images)

After the Golden Globes debacle, Jennifer Lawrence got it right in this strapless Dior gown. I am still not a fan of the pixie haircut, but she looked awesome!

Sofia Vergara (Source: Getty Images)

Sofia Vergara (Source: Getty Images)

My fashion favorite Sofia Vergara looked stunning in this silver embellished Donna Karen gown. I think the reason I am obsessed with this look is because of the diamond and emerald Victorian styled necklace by Amarpali jewels- absolutely gorgeous necklace!

Cate Blanchett (Source: Getty Images)

Cate Blanchett (Source: Getty Images)

Cate Blanchett wore a baby pink Givenchy gown- this look has me torn- while it is a toal departure from her gown to the Golden Globes and is unusual, I feel like it makes her look pregnant and heavy on top. Not sure if I love it?

Sandra Bullock (Source: Getty Images)

Sandra Bullock (Source: Getty Images)

Sandra Bullock wore an effortlessly sexy Lanvin frock with bow detail. But her hair and makeup made her look kinda old. I also wish she wore some jewelry with it- either long earrings or a necklace. Just a tad plain for my taste!

Julia Roberts (Source: Getty Images)

Julia Roberts (Source: Getty Images)

Julia Roberts wore a Valentino jumpsuit- from top down, she looked like a movie star. But the bottom half looks more like clown pants. I am just not a fan of the look! There was so much hype about her return to the red carpet, and so far she has not really brought her fashion A game.

kerry-washington

Kerry Washington (Source: Getty Images)

I should start this by saying I love Kerry Washington! She looked like a movie star at the Golden Globes and totally pulled of the pregnant chic look. But the look is absolutely ridiculous- Kerry wore a fuchsia blouse and midnight blue skirt- custom Gucci, and flashing her midriff. I get that the baby bump is the new sexy- but this just makes her look fat! The skirt makes her look a lot bigger than she is, the top is so blah! Just doesn’t work!

Jennifer Garner (Source: Getty Images)

Jennifer Garner (Source: Getty Images)

Jennifer Garner wore a strapless midnight blue Max Mara gown with a train- it wasn’t a wow gown, but she always knows how to bring it to the red carpet. Movie star!

Elisabeth Moss (Source: Getty Images)

Elisabeth Moss (Source: Getty Images)

Elisabeth Moss looked divine in a red strapless Michael Kors gown with black belted waist. I feel like her hair styling was a bit plain, but overall still a good look.

That rounds it up! What do you think- Do you agree with my picks?

A Look at the Fashion at Screen Actor’s Guild 2013

Hi all! I am back, with my take on the Screen Actor Guild 2013 fashion.

Here are some of the noteworthy looks:

Source: Getty Images

Source: Getty Images

The girl of the moment (and star of my new favorite movie Silver Linings Playbook) Jennifer Lawrence continues her perfect fashion streak with this beautiful navy blue gown by Dior. I absolutely loved her necklace too!

Source: Getty Images

Nicole Kidman isn’t the person I usually watch out for during the award seasons, but she looked incredible in Vivienne Westwood gown. The embroidery is absolutely beautiful!

Source: Getty Images

Continuing on my favorite blue theme, Amanda Seyfried looks fresh and pretty in this Zac Posen number. I am totally fixated on her Lorraine Schwartz medallion necklace- totally love it!

Source: Getty Images

Source: Getty Images

Naomi Watts is stunning in this silver Marchesa number! Absolute perfection!

Source: Getty Images

Source: Getty Images

Jennifer Garner continues to rock the red carpet, she looks incredible in this golden glittery number by Oscar de la Renta.

Source: Getty Images

Source: Getty Images

Jessica Chastain was amazingly fashionable during last year’s award season. But this year, she continues to disappoint me. This red Alexander McWueen gown is not fitted very well- she is so skinny but this gown somehow makes her midsection an unflattering shape. I do love her taste in jewelry though!

Source: Getty Images

With Les Miserables, Anne Hathaway is the center of the award season. But her black Giambattista Valli gown is pretty blah! Totally unimpressed!

Source: Getty Images

Source: Getty Images

My usual fashion favorite Sofia Vergara was a bit disappointing. This white Donna Karan number looks ill fitting on top, and just doesn’t work. Maybe she is trying to give a hint to her fiance, because the dress looks a bit bride-ish!

Golden Globes 2013- The Best and Worst Looks

Happy New Year (a bit belated) and welcome to 2013! I was on a hiatus from blogging, but I am back. And this post is just for Aishwarya, who asked me when I am writing about the Golden Globes fashion.

So let’s get started, first with the looks I loved, then move on to the ones that were absolutely awful!

Best dressed at Golden Globes:

Emily Blunt (Source: Getty Images)

Emily Blunt (Source: Getty Images)

One of my favorite people to watch on the red carpet- Emily Blunt didn’t disappoint and stunned in this gorgeous golden gown by Michael Kors. One word- Beautiful!

Sofia Vergara (Source: Getty Images)

Sofia Vergara (Source: Getty Images)

Another staple in all my fashion posts-Sofia Vergara wows in this black strapless gown by Michael Cinco. I love her red carpet looks- she always dresses perfectly for her body type.

Jennifer Garner (Source: Getty Images)

Jennifer Garner (Source: Getty Images)

Sticking with the strapless theme, I loved Jennifer Garner in this Dior Haute Couture gown. Such a fantastic color, and it really makes her look radiant! I am also loving the earrings and bracelets– all in all, perfect look!

Anne Hathaway (Source: Getty Images)

Anne Hathaway (Source: Getty Images)

Best Supporting Actress Winner Anne Hathaway looks sophisticated and elegant in this white Chanel number.

Claire Danes (Source: Getty Images)

Claire Danes (Source: Getty Images)

Sticking with the red theme, which was a popular color on the carpet, Best Actress in TV drama winner Claire Danes stunned in this Versace gown. Can you believe she had a baby only a month ago!! Insane!!

The worst looks at Golden Globes:

Jessica Chastain (Source: Getty Images)

Jessica Chastain (Source: Getty Images)

OK starting with the look I was most disappointed with- during the Oscars 2012, Jessica Chastain was my best dressed. And given she is a strong contender to win, I expected her to bring her A game. This pale blue Calvin Klien gown looked absolutely ridiculous- it was a wonder how she didn’t have a wardrobe malfunction. But her hairstyle just pushed it to worst dress territory-slick hair back never works! Total disappointing!

Lucy Liu (Source: Getty Images)

Lucy Liu (Source: Getty Images)

The usually stunning Lucy Liu disappoints in this light blue Caroline Herrera gown. The design and prints look more suited to be drapes or tablecloth rather than a red carpet gown.

Rachel Weisz (Source: Getty Images)

Rachel Weisz (Source: Getty Images)

Maybe its my personal bias, but I have never been a fan of the sheer arms and leg and solid middle trend. Rachel Weisz looks a bit drab in this black polka dot Louis Vuitton dress.

Hally Berry (Source: Getty Images)

Hally Berry (Source: Getty Images)

The usually stunning Halle Berry looked out of place in this Versace gown, which seems more suited for the beach rather than a red carpet! The prints and colors are dull and the ridiculous ‘Angelina Jolie’ leg trend is the final nail in the coffin. Halle, I expected more!

Eva Longoria (Source: Getty Images)

Eva Longoria (Source: Getty Images)

And keeping with the ridiculous ‘Angelina Jolie’ leg trend, another red carpet hottie that I love to watch- Eva Longoria- disappointed in this black Emilio Pucci gown. The neckline, the leg and back- it was all a bit too much!

Do you guys agree with my picks?

Emmy 2012 Fashion

It’s finally that time of the year… Emmy time! or rather, Emmy red carpet time.. I was on holiday when the Emmy red carpet was on, so the first thing I did once I got back was to catch up on all the fashion. After catching up on the show, I am finally ready to write:-

Source: Getty Images

One of my favorite looks comes from my fashion favorite- Sofia Vergara. In this dazzling number by Zuhair Murad, she looked glamorous and va-va-voom!

Source: Getty Image

Tina Fey isn’t usually someone who is on fashion lists. But Tina Fey stuns in this gorgeous Vivienne Westwood gown. Fashion isn’t funny business!!

Source: Getty Images

Award winner Julie Bowen looks fresh and pretty in this citrus themed gown. The Monique Lhullier gown isn’t really something I would consider – but the color really works on Julie!

Source: Getty Images

Kelly Osbourne might disagree, but I absolutely love this gown on Hayden Panettiere. The gown is from Marchesa’s spring 2013 Indian inspired collection- and call me partial, but its something fun and interesting on the red carpet!

Source: Getty Images

Allison Williams looks lovely in this gorgeous green gown by Oscar de la Renta.

My favorite SAG 2012 gowns

Today was the second major awards ceremony, and it meant more red carpet fashion spotting. Before Joan Rivers rips in to the fashion trends, here are my two cents.

 My favorite gowns this year:

Source: Getty Images

Emma Stone was a knock out in this full-skirted dress by Alexander McQueen. In a sea of floor length gowns, she looked young and fun in this number.

Source: Getty Images

Black seemed a popular theme today, and Stacy Keibler wore my second favorite black outfit of the night. She looked stunning in this black lace Marchesa fishtail gown, with the best accessory—-George Clooney!

Source: Getty Images

My fashion favorite Sofia Vergara did not disappoint. She wore a raspberry pink Marchesa gown which highlighted her incredible figure.  She teamed the look with Judith Leiber jewels. Bellisimo!

Source: Getting Images

Emily Blunt was positively radiant in this stunning green number by Oscar de la Renta. I am totally green with envy!

Source: Getty Images

Whites and greys were also a trend this time, and Viola Davis was the best among the sea of snow. She looked simple, elegant  and stylish in this Marchesa gown.

My favorite Golden Globes 2012 gowns

Yesterday marked the beginning of the my most eagerly awaited time of the year: Award season! I haven’t seen Joan Rivers fashion police yet, but I must say this year’s award season is very ho-hum–same colors and trends. One strong color trend was the white– some of the gowns looked more like bridal gowns!

My favorite gowns for this year:

Source: Getty Images

I love Sofia Vergara, and in this fishtail gown by Vera Wang with Harry Winston diamonds, she looks absolutely heavenly. I am never a fan of fishtail gowns, and I didn’t think it would work on a curvy woman, but it fits her like a glove. Blue is such an awesome color on her!

Source: Getty Images

As one of the young and happening starlets, Emma Stone was the centre of attention. She attracted attention in this gorgeous plunging berry gown, with contrasting red accents and dramatic belt by Lanvin. Mi amore!

Source: Getty Images

Jessica Alba looks radiant in this stunning Gucci beaded gown with a hint of pink and the right amount of bling, courtesy of Bulgari jewels. What a comeback after her second baby!

Source: Getty Images

Speaking of yummy mommies, Natalie Portman looks like a knock out in this pink and red gown by Lanvin (a popular favorite this year!)

Source: Getty Images

One of my red carpet favorites is the ever-graceful Kate Beckinsale. Keeping with the popular bridal trend, Kate looks gorgeous in this white strapless gown by Roberto Cavalli. Bridal chic indeed!

Source: Getty Images

Taking a break from her usual dark hues, Angelina Jolie stunned in a stunning ivory number with contrasting blood red accents by Atelier Versace. Sparkling change!

My top 5 favorite Emmy gowns

The Emmy awards were on Sunday, and I was back to doing what I love to do–follow fashion.

I was not very impressed with the Emmy’s fashion this year, there weren’t a lot of different styles going on in the red carpet. There was a sea of red gowns which blended in to the red carpet and the other gowns were like of blah–it all looked like you have seen them before—the mermaid style fish tailed gowns, metallic colors!

These are some of my favorite gowns from the evening:

I loved this metallic gown by Johanna Johnson on Cristina Hendricks. I know the fashion police was not a fan of this gown, but I think she deserves a break. It is hard getting dresses that a flattering for curves, and she rocked the look!

Source: Getty Images

Sofia Vergara looked smoking hot in this crimson number by Vera Wang.

Source: Getty Images

Julia Stiles was a breath of fresh air in this lavender colored gown by Georges Hobelka.

Source: Getty Images

Nina Dobrev wore one of my favorite red gowns for the evening, by Donna Karan. Loved her necklace too!

Source: Getty Images

And finally, my BEST DRESSED for the Emmy’s is Emily Blunt who looked breathtaking in a blue tulle gown with a plunging neckline by Elie Saab, with gorgeous husband John Krasinski in tow.
