Filmfare 2014- Fashion round-up

It’s award season all over the globe, with my childhood favorite Filmfare Awards in India. The awards show bring up so many memories- as a chid, I used to get so excited to see song and dance performances, over the top outfits.

This year saw a lot more gowns.. Here is a rundown of the notable looks!

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone

The Best Actress award winner Deepika Padukone looked absolutely incredible in this gold gown with cutouts by Gaurav Gupta. The gown highlighted her impossibly perfect figure, and the soft waves hair styling made her look like a movie star. One word- Perfection!

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra looked stylish in this black strapless Alexander McQueen gown. She looked fantastic, but I felt like the gown made her look too thin.

Karishma Kapoor

Karishma Kapoor

Karishma Kapoor wore a chocolate colored saree gown by Anamika Khanna. This outfit to me is just bizarre- it took me a while to even realize that the bottom half was a saree not a skirt.

Prachi Desai

Prachi Desai

Prachi Desai wore a peach colored gown by Swapnil Shine with thigh high slits. Nothing wrong with teh gown, but it is just on the wrong person, I don’t think she has the body for it or the attitude to carry it off.

Kajol

Kajol

Kajol is wearing a one shouldered animal print gown by Nandita Mahtani. This outfit hits my worst list for many reasons. Firstly, the dress doesn’t fit her right and she has literally done nothing with her hair- on a night that your mother is getting the lifetime achievement award, she should have taken a bit more effort. Secondly, this outfit is more fit if she is auditioning for the Real Housewives of Miami- perfect for lounging by the pool. Fail!

Sophie Choudry

Sophie Choudry

Sophie looked incredible in a red strapless peplum own by BCBG Maxazria.

Dia Mirza

Dia Mirza

Dia Mirza wore a gold/black combination saree pant outfit. This is another fashion trend that baffles me- why combine too different outfits-either wear a saree or pants! It almost looks like they ran out of fabric! Not a fan!

Preity Zinta

Preity Zinta

Preity Zinta looked lovely in this a one shouldered blue Gauri and Nainika gown.

Kalki Koechlin

Kalki Koechlin

Kalki Koechlin wore a black Anarkali dress by Sabyasachi Mukerjee. The dressed suited Kalki, but it is the most repeated outfit on the red carpet. Let’s try something else for a change!

That rounds its up for me- what do you think? Do you agree?

My Favorite Filmfare Awards 2012 looks

After doing the fashion round-up for Hollywood award season, I wanted to work on the desi version. The Filmfare awards for 2012 were last night, and it was a combination of sarees and gowns.

My favorite looks for the year:

Deepika Padukone

Deepika looked incredible in this stunning peach saree with light jewelry- bangles and earrings. I absolutely loved her hairstyle!

Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor looked stunning in this Manish Malhotra saree. Her hair and make-up looks impeccable, the simple look really works!

Karisma Kapoor

Karisma Kapoor looks ravishing in this white Manish Malhotra saree. I wish I could get her earrings and cuff!

Raveena Tandon

Raveena’s look was another favorite for me, it was a simple saree but she accessorized it very well. The red saree and the gold blouse are an excellent combination.

Bipasha Basu

Bipasha broke away from the saree gang, and looked like a goddess in a gold dress. I love her hairstyle, the hairband is adorable!
